I would like to ask for help on the difference between using and not using the INITIALIZE verb.

Message: The INITIALIZE verb will automatically initialize the variable for you.
For example if we have.
01 X1 PIC X.
01 N1 PIC 9.
INITIALIZE X1
N1.
X1 will be set to space.
N1 will be set to 0.

Are the codes above the same as INITIALIZING VAR_2?
