Subject: RE: READ INTO
Message: thanks.. i did understand now..
i was so confused abt it since i got dis error:
DC3302I ACTION ERROR on lbp.rm.online.rmcls.vsam
DC3308I ** DUPLICATE RECORD X'F0F0F5F1F0F0F0F0F0F0F0F0.............
actually my program reads num1(with corresponding amts in an array) from filea and searches from fileb the record num1(w/c may have different corresponding amts since it is in array form) and writes it into an output record (which will actually combine the diffrent amts in one record if it has the same name( which happens to be num1)..the output i have write now is that it prints in separate records eventhough i have sane name(num1)..hope u can help me wid dis..thanks a million

Message: why dont you START the file at the desired location then READ NEXT i.e.;
Num00001
Num00002
Num00003

Num 1999
Assume that the file is defined as TEST-FILE.
If the key is defined as TEST-KEY-TRY then you would move the 'value that you want to the key for the record you want to access. Then read for the file.
eg.
MOVE "Num00002" TO TEST-KEY-TRY.
START TEST-FILE KEY IS = TEST-KEY-TRY
INVALID KEY DISPLAY "SORRY ERROR IN KEY VALUE"
END-START.
READ LOOK-UP-FILE NEXT-RECORD
AND END SET EOF TO TRUE
END-READ.
