| RE: Cobol question
Message: If you write a record "after advancing 2" for each print line, you should get the results you are looking for. Hope this helps and that I understand exactly what you are asking.

| RE: Cobol question
Message: Generaly speaking:
WRITE RECORD-NAME AFTER ADVANCING 2 LINES
will provide the desired result.
Replace "RECORD-NAME" in the statement above with the "01" name used in your "FD" statement.
You did not indicate what environment you are working in. In some environments (e.g., IBM mainframe) the words "ADVANCING" and "LINES" can be eliminated and coded as:
WRITE RECORD-NAME AFTER 2
Try this to see if your compiler will allow it.
One of the responses to your request indicated a "BEFORE" option. This will not work in all compilers. However, it will not harm anything to just try it.
Also:
WRITE RECORD-NAME AFTER PAGE
should advance the paper to the top of the next page (depending on your [particular compiler)
By George --- good look with your coding!

Message: Thanks for your help everyone. I am using the AS/400 environment I think it uses the same coding source. Thanks again it really helps to ask questions.
