Subject: Cobol code
Message: I am working on the as/400 environment and need to know how to enter the date in I have 8 nines like this: date pic 99999999. Is the correct way I was confused about the / in between the month and the day and year.

Message: Hi Samantha,
The pic to store the date would be pic 9(08) and the pic for the edit (input of date) would be one of the following, depending on whether the date is yyyymmdd or ddmmyyyy or mmddyyyy Pic 9999/99/99 for the first and pic 99/99/9999 for the last two. The slash is used for readability while entering the date or printing/displaying the date.
