Subject: INSPECT question

Message:
I have to place a release char (ie '*') in front of a nominated char (eg '#','&') within a text field e.g.
ABCD#EF needs to become ABCD*#EF
&ABCDEF# needs to become *&ABCDEF*#

Is there any way I can use INSPECT REPLACING to do this as it would be far more elegant than using a char to char loop. It appears that the search and replace arguments have to be of identical length.

identical length: yes
you can use a pointer with unstring and use it again with string

Yes!
You can also use a simple array.

Inspect and replace would be out of question, occording to my understanding ,Would go with the simple array concept since string and unstring would be a more laborious process.Any new suggestions would be great .......
