I am currently working for Microfocus Cobol. I wanted to know the major differences between this Microfocus Cobol and other cobol (Mainframe Cobol) languages.

Your question indicates that you have not been through very much instruction about MF COBOL yet, or that I'm not following the phrasing you are using very well. I'll try to give you some basics, but your local installation may not match very well:
Micro Focus COBOL at one level or another has been directly related to OSVS COBOL since 1989 or before. Within the current versions of available MicroFocus, it is possible to directly emulate a z/OS mainframe down to the JCL and file level (with some limitations) on a non-mainframe server.
Depending upon the compiler directives and language dialects specified, Micro Focus COBOL can be used to emulate or develop for targets as diverse as Data General and AS/400, with support for everything from VSCS, DOS/VSE, Micro_soft_ COBOL, Realia, etc.
My strong suggestion is to go through the MicroFocus online documentation and pay close attention to the Dialects available under Compiler Directives (and then inspect which other directives are chosen or disabled given a particular Dialect selection).
